The surf conditions at Putty Beach and Killcare  is quite mild and therefore excellent for young families. However older families may prefer the Copacabana/Avoca area because of more exciting surf conditions.

At the western end of the beach is the Killcare Surf Club which, above all, is known for its very good restaurant.

Putty Beach borders on the Bouddi National Park at the eastern end of Killcare Beach. it is a lovely quiet area.

Putty Beach

Between Putty and Killcare Beaches there are well equipped camping areas (National Park) and (Tallow Beach) particularly suited to nature loving families.

The delightful Hardy’s Bay area is on the  Brisbane Waters and is only just over the hill from Killcare. Furthermore this area has good cafes, some interesting shops shops and a marina. The quiet residential area of Wagstaff is only a short distance west of Hardys Bay. In addition this area has a wharf and provision shop. Furthermore this wharf is well used with Ferry services running 7 days a week to and from Palm Beach via Ettalong.

Parts of Bouddi Park (and Broken  Bay) separate the Killcare/Hardys Bay/Wagstaff area  from  Ettalong, Umina, Pearl Beach and Patonga. As a result access to these areas requires a drive  over the Rip Bridge to Ettalong. From there you can access Ettalong, Umina, Pearl and Patonga Beaches.

Hardys Bay is the northern aspect of Killcare situated on the edge of Brisbane Waters. It features a wharf, marina and a collection of shops and restaurants.

Hardys Bay

Renown “Bells” restaurant is situated on Killcare Heights overlooking Hardys Bay. Bell’s is particularly famous because of the expertise of the Chief Chef Manfredi (who has had 25 yrs  in the fine dining industry). Furthermore much of the produce is home grown and therefore couldn’t be fresher. This  is the premier place for that special occasion. Accommodation is also available.

Hardys Bay Community Cub has Thai food and in addition hosts a live music Gig during weekends (19:30-22:30).

Hardy’s Bistro is a  very popular cafe for breakfast and lunch (not saying this is only because of their pancakes)!  Furthermore they are also open for meals until 9:30Pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

Next up the street is the Fat Goose Bakery which is open for breakfast and lunch.

The View Woodfired Pizza has an extensive menu including soup, wine and craft beers. In addition they are able to deliver your meal.

Luck Bee Cafe is a very new addition to Hardys Bay. The specialy is Asian cuisine.

Wagstaff Newsagent/General Store is handy for those enjoying family fishing from the adjacent Wagstaff wharf.

The adjacent Brisbane Waters is a mecca for boating and fishing. Killcare Marine hires out 4 person “tinnies”. These have a sunshade and rent for $14 per hour. Great for taking the kids fishing or exploring the Brisbane waters.

There are public golf courses available at Woy Woy and Gosford. An excellent driving range is located at Kincumber.

The Bouddi National Park is adjacent to this area. A really enjoyable and non-stressful walk is from the Rangers Station  to Putty Beach or on to the end of Killcare Beach. For a longer walk commence at Macmasters Beach.
