What’s happening now?

The Humpback Whale Migration started early this year and every day there have been a multitude of sightings along the Central Coast. One of the  best spots to view the whales northward passage is from the viewing platform in front of the Copacabana Beach shops or from up the hill at Captain Cook Lookout. The northward migration for breeding is now coming to an end and the southward migration of the mothers and babies has commencing and will last into November. They eat only Krill and its amazing to realise that they haven’t had a single meal since leaving the Antarctic in March!!

This a lovely photo of a whale breaching. During May to Oct hundreds of these animals can be seen migrating north and later migrating southwards with their calves. One of the best spot on the Central Coast to observe thes animals is on the Captain Cook Lookout above Copacabana Beach
